The ‘g’ Hotel, Galway and the ‘d’ Hotel, Drogheda - part of the Monogram Hotel Group
Monogram Hotels is Ireland's newest hotel group, with a growing collection of individual properties providing guests with a truly memorable hotel experience.
It couples the best design and quality interiors with distinctive uniforms and warm, professional and personal service.
After researching uniform suppliers, Mary Mckeon, Chief Operating Officer decided Fashionizer’s services were ideally suited to providing uniforms for the two different hotels it planned to open in 2005; The “g” in Galway and the “d” in Drogheda, Ireland.
The ‘g’ Hotel, Galway Echoing 1950’s glamour
The ‘g’ hotel is a luxury five star hotel designed by international milliner Phillip Treacy. Using striking colours such as Fuchsia Pink and Deep Blue Crimson, the hotel’s style is ultra modern but at the same time reflecting the movie glamour of the 1950's.
The ‘look’
Offering a fully bespoke solution, Fashionizer worked with Mary McKeon, Catherine Barrett, the owner of the hotel and Mr Treacy to ensure that the uniforms matched Philip's vision of distinctive flair that was to define the ‘g’ experience. The garment styles had to balance the 50's glamour look with up to date fashion statements. Uniform colours had to match those vibrant ones used in the interiors Jet black and fuchsia pink
Streamlining the style of uniforms fitted well with the concept of an impeccable standard of service from all staff, regardless of rank that the owners wished to implement at the g. Therefore, all management personnel and all front of house staff wear the same style uniform; jet black streamlined long mandarin jackets with straight legged trousers. All Food and Beverage staff wear bright pink mandarin shirts which harmonise with the bright fuchsia and crimson of the interiors. These are worn with black trousers and a long black apron. Housekeeping wear 50's style Dior “New Look” style dresses in deep purple washable cotton with traditional maids white half aprons.
The ‘d’ Hotel, Drogheda
Monogram’s 4 star “d” hotel offers contemporary interiors and a cosmopolitan touch. It is located on the south bank of Drogheda historic River Boyne.
The Brief
Speed of delivery was crucial for this uniform project; Fashionizer had little over 2 months to deliver. We therefore used our fast track solution, “The Buziness” for its fine luxury stock range with immediate availability. The prices were also more relevant than a bespoke option for this four star hotel. Within this range there is a large choice of styles and colours for both more traditional or contemporary hotels.
Mandarin and khaki
To maintain some consistency between the ‘g’ and the ‘d’, black mandarin style jackets were chosen for reception staff, although management at the ‘d’ had traditional black suits with pale blue blouses and shirts. Food and Beverage staff sport black mandarin shirts and housekeeping are dressed in taupe and khaki tunics and trousers.
