 Case Study: Mobil 1 Motorsport
AGENCY: A Plus + Ltd
BRIEF: To create a distinctive new look for Mobil Grid-Girls at Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Mobil 1 is a ‘Title Sponsor’ at some of the Formula 1 Grand Prix races. Title sponsorships enable the "Grid-Girls" to be dressed in branded outfits; performing a variety of duties during the pre-race ceremony, including carrying the national flags and grid boards. They typically attract a lot of national and international TV coverage.
Brand Values
Mobil wanted to create an image that was both stylish and impactful, made from the highest quality fabrics. The image had to reflect the brand value of Mobil’s synthetic lubricants.
The Outfits
Fashionizer designed a layered outfit comprising of a tunic, trousers and a body warmer. Using a high tech silver aluminium fabric with a black plastic mesh overlay, a sleek, oily effect was created, reflecting the Mobil 1 product. Deep black neoprene fitted trousers were complemented by chequered flag tunics, made from a specially woven fabric.

Branding was subtle, with one large embroidered logo on the back of the body warmer and a small logo on the front of the tunics

Result: The Grid Girls’ powerful image achieved increased media coverage for Mobil 1.
