Role at Fashionizer: Design Intern
JW is our most recent Design Intern. He joined the Fashionizer design team to develop his pattern cutting and design skills. JW helps with all things in the studio, from laying patterns, cutting garments or drawing design specifications. His meticulous work and attention to detail was noticed right away on his trial day. His sewing skills and love of pattern cutting are getting plenty of practice and feedback, whilst working under the watchful eye of B and the sewing team.
Life before Fashionizer
Growing up in Scotland, JW pursued his passion for design and received a national diploma from HND Fashion Technology course. To find more opportunity in the fashion industry, he then moved to London to attend university and pursue internships. In the summer of 2018, Jed interned as a pattern cutter with Ralph & Russo in London. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Fashion Atelier in 2019 the University for the Creative Arts, where he designed his five piece collection Amour Fou, using bright pastel fabrics from Paris and inspirations from mixed media artists Takashi Murakami and Joana Vasconcelos, who were featured in Versailles when he visited.
Insider’s Guide to JW
In his off time, JW enjoys attending fashion exhibitions and catching up on the latest films. His fashion muses are bold designers like Delpozo and Gucci, where having a unique and daring style is reflected in his own quirky fashion sense and colourful designs. JW’s obsession for everything floral coincides with his cherry blossom tattoo.
